In March 2012, John Rick Miller visited Houston to introduce the Mission in various parishes, inspiring interest among some Catholics in the city to participate and establish the Mission in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
The Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Baytown (a town near Houston), under the guidance of its pastor, Father Jesús Lizalde, became the first parish to be consecrated to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary on December 12, 2012. On the same day, the relic image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was enthroned. Subsequently, several prayer cenacles began in homes, and since then, efforts have continued to expand the reach of the Mission for the Love of God Worldwide in Houston and its surrounding areas.
In 2014, through God’s grace and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Radio Maria Houston began broadcasting the Sorrowful Mysteries for Conversion and Peace, uniting many listeners in prayer for the city of Houston and neighboring communities. In April 2016, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston officially authorized the Mission for the Love of God Worldwide as part of its Hispanic ministries, enabling the Mission to work in parishes conducting consecrations and enthronements.
2017 was a year of great blessings, with three additional parishes being consecrated.
On February 11, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Holy Name Church was consecrated by its pastor, Father Anil Thomas. He consecrated the parish and its territory to the Two Hearts and enthroned the relic image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
On May 13, the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Fatima, two parishes were consecrated: St. Charles Borromeo Church, led by Father Miguel Solórzano, and St. Leo the Great Church, led by Father Carmelo Hernández.
In May 2017, the Mission’s international directors, Carol Rivera, Angélica Cantú, and Juan Chaparro, visited Houston to give a series of talks aimed at raising awareness about the Mission. Working teams were established in various parishes, encouraging families to enthrone the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in their homes and return to family prayer.
