JOHN RICK MILLER
Founder of the Mission for the Love of God Worldwide
+ 1948 - 2015
"…millions of small lights will produce a light so intense that it will be seen by those countries that have already extinguished their light and are living in darkness."
ABOUT HIS LIFE
John Rick Miller was an American, born in New York on July 10, 1948, into a Catholic family. Although he had a deep sense of God from a very young age, mainly due to the influence of his paternal grandparents, as he grew older and entered university, he abandoned his prayer life and, with it, completely drifted away from his faith. Drawn to worldly pursuits, he entered the corporate world and rose quickly, becoming the CEO of companies such as AstraZeneca and Cargill MacMillan, as well as the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, among others. Additionally, he collaborated with the U.S. government on projects to revitalize industry in Egypt.
HOW WAS YOUR CONVERSION PROCESS?
Thanks to his wife's persistence and the intercession of the Virgin Mary, John Rick Miller experienced a profound conversion in 1988. From that moment, he began a ministry focused particularly on the sick and the marginalized.
Among the many apostolates he carried out, the following stand out:
-
Establishing a large number of prayer cenacles in various countries around the world.
-
Being one of the few laypeople to preach in Cairo, Egypt.
-
Founding the Apostolate of St. Joseph alongside Father Fred De L’Orme.
-
Founding the Confraternity of Our Lady of Willesden at the Marian Shrine in London.
-
Initiating, with the Pallottine Order in India, a plan to build Roman Catholic shrines in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
WHAT INSPIRED HIM TO FOUND THIS MISSION?
In 2007, John Rick Miller visited Colombia and spoke with then-President Álvaro Uribe about the challenges the country was facing. He proposed Consecration as a means to address these issues. As a result, President Uribe and his family, the government, many of its leaders, the armed forces, and the police were consecrated. Subsequently, the Church consecrated Colombia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the first time and renewed its consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on October 12, 2008.
Later, he was invited to Venezuela, where he realized that Colombia had been the model for what God was calling him to do. In 2009, he founded the "Mission for the Love of God Worldwide" as a call for all people to understand that God exists, that He is our loving Father, and that we must return to Him in all things.
At the end of 2012, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He received various recognitions from civil and ecclesiastical authorities from different countries, notably from Mexico and Colombia in 2014. John Rick Miller was ultimately called to the Father's House on May 30, 2015, and his remains rest in the grounds of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Doral, Florida.
