PANAMA

John Rick Miller's Visits to Panama and the Growth of the Mission

John Rick Miller visited Panama for the first time in 2008, a year before founding the Mission. He delivered talks in several parishes and returned annually to give talks, not only in the city but also in the countryside. He inaugurated Adoration Chapels of the Blessed Sacrament, constructed with the financial support of Catholic families and members of the Mission For the Love of God Worldwide, which he founded in 2009.

In 2009, during his visits to Panama, the Mission For the Love of God Worldwide was presented to His Excellency Most Reverend José Dimas Cedeño, Archbishop of Panama; His Excellency Most Reverend José Domingo Ulloa, Auxiliary Bishop; and His Excellency Most Reverend Andrés Carrascosa Coso, Apostolic Nuncio to Panama. That same year, the first adoration chapel sponsored by the Mission and its benefactors was inaugurated.

Activities in 2010
2010 was an active year for the Mission in Panama. In January, the Mission was introduced to Panama’s bishops during a courtesy session at the Episcopal Conference. In April, His Excellency Most Reverend José Domingo Ulloa was appointed as the new Archbishop of Panama. The Mission was reintroduced to him, and he gave his approval for its continuation in Panama.

In May, a breakfast with Catholic business leaders was held to invite them to join the Mission. Later that month, with the support of director Gustavo Perez, the National Police of Panama was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Subsequent consecrations included the Chinese community, the Ministry of Housing, the National University, and the San José Major Seminary. Mass consecrations were also held during a healing event, the youth gathering Explosión Juvenil, and the Marian archdiocesan prayer event for family and peace in Panama (Rosario Viviente).

John Rick Miller was received by the First Lady of Panama, Marta Linares de Martinelli, during a courtesy visit where he presented the Mission. He was also interviewed by local journalists Jenia Nenzen and Ana Gabriela Delgado. Additionally, consecrations were held in 17 parishes across various cities, including private companies, and four adoration chapels were inaugurated.

Activities in 2011
2011 was another vibrant year for the Mission. In January, the San José Home for the Elderly was consecrated. In February, the Office of the First Lady and the Ministry of Education were consecrated. In March, during the Marian Prayer Gathering for Peace attended by visionary Ivan Dragicevic of Medjugorje, participants were consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and the Chaste Heart of St. Joseph.

In May, the Women’s Prison and the Ministry of Social Development were consecrated. Later that month, John Rick Miller returned to Panama and was received by President Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal during a courtesy visit where he presented the Mission. During this visit, he met again with Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa and Apostolic Nuncio Andrés Carrascosa Coso to update them on the Mission's progress and future projects.

John Rick also toured Chiriquí and Veraguas, visiting Bishop Oscar Brown in Santiago. On the same day, the Veraguas Police Force was consecrated. He later visited the Supreme Court, meeting with its justices and sharing the Mission. Days later, the judicial system and its officials were consecrated in a historic event—the first such consecration of a judicial system in Latin America.

Other consecrations included the Attorney General’s Office, the Public Ministry, the Police Academy, the Spanish Ladies Association, the Judicial Body of Chorrera, Anton, the National Aeronaval Service, five schools, one university, Eucharistic events, the Rosario Viviente, youth gatherings, healing encounters, teachers in Veraguas, private companies, and a media organization. Two adoration chapels were also inaugurated.

Activities in 2012
In February 2012, John Rick Miller gave a talk in Panama City to priests, deacons, and religious individuals. He also met with Héctor Aparicio, President of the Legislative Assembly of Panama, and Lidia de Aparicio, President of the Spouses’ Association of Deputies. After this meeting, he was invited to deliver a talk to the Assembly staff. At the end of the month, the Legislative Assembly of Panama was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In April, the National Aqueduct and Sewer Institute (IDAAN) was consecrated. In July, the Diocese of Santiago was consecrated alongside Bishop Oscar Mario Brown. Two new adoration chapels were inaugurated that year, and various consecrations were carried out in parishes, youth gatherings, and events, including the consecration of the Mayor’s Office of Panama City.

In October 2012, Panama hosted the Third International Congress of the Mission For the Love of God Worldwide. Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa, though unable to attend, sent his blessings and greetings via video. The inaugural Mass was celebrated by Bishop Oscar Mario Brown. The congress featured speakers from various countries, as well as Apostolic Nuncio Andrés Carrascosa Coso, then Vice President (and later President) Juan Carlos Varela, Minister of Education Lucy Molinar, former Supreme Court President Aníbal Salas, and former Legislative Assembly President Héctor Aparicio.

Continued Growth
In the following years, the Mission continued to promote consecrations to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in many parishes, prayer gatherings, youth events, schools, non-profit organizations, and private companies. Several consecrations to the Chaste Heart of St. Joseph were held in parishes on March 19 and May 1.

Prayer groups were also established across Panama and other cities to pray the Holy Rosary for the nation, its leaders, and the clergy.

In recent years, family consecrations to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary have been carried out during the Eucharist celebrated annually by Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa, coinciding with the archdiocesan family walk.

Since 2016, the Home Enthronement Program for the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Mission, has been fully implemented. The program has been widely embraced, with enthronements carried out in parishes, homes, and even the National Police.
