ECUADOR
John Rick Miller arrived in Ecuador in 2010, receiving the support of Monsignor Fausto Trávez, Archbishop of Quito and Primate of Ecuador, and Monsignor Antonio Arregui, Archbishop of Guayaquil and President of the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference.
On December 15 of the same year, in his first Eucharist celebrated as Cardinal of Ecuador, Mons. Raúl Vela consecrated the National Police to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
In 2011, our founder was received by the Vice President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, the Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Quito, Dr. Augusto Barrera, commanders of the Army and National Police, as well as several entrepreneurs from Quito. He also attended the Eucharist on May 24 at the Basilica of the National Vow, where the Archbishop of Quito, Mons. Fausto Trávez, consecrated the city of Quito to the Two Hearts in the presence of María Sol Corral, the Vice-Mayor of the city.
That same year, in the city of Guayaquil, Monsignor Antonio Arregui Yarza, President of the Episcopal Conference, consecrated over 50,000 people to the Sacred Hearts at the Guayaquil Stadium.
On September 24, 2012, a relic image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was enthroned at the Basilica of the National Vow with the participation of more than 50,000 faithful, national Church authorities, military and police authorities, as well as ambassadors. The Mayor of Quito, along with the Committee of the Metropolitan Council of Quito, named her an "Illustrious Guest."
At this celebration, the Consecration of the Republic of Ecuador, made on March 25, 1874, by the Archbishop of Quito, Mons. José Ignacio Checa y Barba, and President Gabriel García Moreno to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, was renewed. Ecuador was, in fact, the first country in the world to be consecrated, and on this occasion, the highest authorities of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces and National Police of Ecuador, together with the Archbishop of Quito, were consecrated for the first time to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
From September 26 to 29, Quito hosted the 4th International Congress of the Mission. During the opening Mass, celebrated by Mons. Fausto Trávez, Primate of Ecuador and Archbishop of Quito, the renewal of the Consecration of the Armed Forces and National Police to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary took place. It would be the last Congress of the Mission in which our founder would be present.
After having been granted "ad experimentum" for 3 years, the Archdiocese of Quito granted the Mission the status of a definitive Private Association of the Faithful on November 11, 2015.
Many consecrations to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary have been organized in parishes, families, businesses, and individuals, as well as enthronements of Our Lady of Guadalupe in homes and parishes in Quito, Tungurahua, Imbabura, Cuenca, and Loja. In 2016, special attention was given to the provinces that suffered from the earthquake in April, and a relic image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was enthroned in Protoviejo, in the province of Manabí.
