COSTA RICA
In December 2012, our founder and two members of the Mission visited Costa Rica at the invitation of Monsignor Vittorino Girardi, Bishop of Tilarán-Liberia, and through the tireless efforts of a Costa Rican citizen and active member of the Mission living in the United States. His Excellency warmly welcomed them to the Episcopal residence, listened to their proposals, and shared information about the programs in his diocese. John Rick Miller emphasized the importance of consecrating the country, suggesting that the proposal be presented to the then-President to carry it out.
Our founder also met with Vice President Alfio Piva, seeking his support for the country's consecration. Several parishes within the Diocese of Tilarán-Liberia were visited, where the Mission and the Enthronement Program of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Homes were introduced. Additionally, a relic image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was enthroned during a solemn Mass at the Church of Our Lady of the Angels, with a commitment to return in 2013.
Two weeks after his visit to Costa Rica, our founder received the sad news of his illness. However, two Mission members continued working with Monsignor Girardi, who has been an extraordinary blessing in every sense. Through his perseverance, love, sacrifices, and the support of all the bishops of the Episcopal Conference, the consecration of the country was carried out on August 2, 2013, the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels, with the participation of the three branches of the nation’s government.
