COLOMBIA

In 2007, John Rick Miller visited Colombia for the first time and initiated the mission: “Colombia in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.” The goal was the conversion of all Colombians through the renewal of Colombia’s Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and, for the first time in history, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Motivated by this first mission, and following his encounter with John Rick Miller, then-President Álvaro Uribe, his family, and some members of his government consecrated themselves to the Sacred Hearts on June 11, 2008, in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio. Six months later, on October 12, Cardinal Pedro Rubiano consecrated Colombia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and renewed the country's consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The intention of this mission expanded to other countries and became known as the Mission for the Love of God Worldwide.

From its inception to December 2010, more than 18,000 people had consecrated themselves, and over 100 prayer groups had been established. That same year, in October, Villa de Leyva hosted the 2nd International Congress of the Mission, attended by ecclesiastical authorities, including Archbishop of Ibagué Mons. Flavio Calle; Bishops Mons. Juan Vicente Córdoba, Mons. Eulises González, Mons. José Roberto Ospina, Mons. José Vicente Huertas, Mons. Héctor Cubillos, and Mons. Luis Felipe Sánchez; as well as various priests and Mission members from Mexico, Ecuador, Canada, the United States, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Poland, and Venezuela.

In 2011, Mons. Eulises González consecrated San Andrés Island to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, accompanied by government officials, and enthroned a relic image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Other relic images were later enthroned in the Parish of Saint Juan Diego in the locality of Bosa after the winter tragedies in that region, as well as in Ciudad Bolívar and the Cathedrals of Zipaquirá, Pasto, and Manizales.

In 2014, the Congress of the Republic of Colombia, through honorable Senator Jose Darío Salazar Cruz, awarded our founder the Order of Merit as a “Great Knight of the Nation of Colombia.” The Catholic Church, through Mons. Juan Vicente Córdoba, presented him with a plaque of recognition signed by Cardinal Rubén Salazar Gómez and 22 Archbishops and Bishops for his work and dedication in evangelizing the Colombian people within the context of the Catholic faith.

In recent years, the Mission in Colombia has strengthened its presence in several parishes within the Dioceses of Fontibón (especially in Cota) and Engativá, as well as in the Archdioceses of Bogotá, Barranquilla, and Manizales. It has focused on preparing, catechizing, and organizing the consecration of archdioceses, individuals, families, schools, and affiliated groups such as 40 Days for Life. The Mission has also consecrated or renewed the consecration of parish territories, the country on two occasions, cities, and some local leaders.
